Valley! |
|
1n10 youth are preserving history and creating
change!
Our youth have asked and we listened-
QSpeak Theatre participants have spent three
years telling their stories and experiences on
stage. This year, they are interested in
performing YOUR stories and learning about their
own community history along the way.
1n10
has partnered with the Tempe Historical Museum
and internationally recognized playwright, Laurie
Brooks, to create a valley-wide LGBT
intergenerational theatre production, and the
valley's first LGBT permanent history collection
to be housed at the Tempe Historical Museum.
WE NEED YOU! We are looking for
community members of all ages to take part in
the collection and preservation of LGBT history
in the valley, and to share stories and talents
for our next production.
Scheduled training dates for history
collection:
Wednesday, July 9 6pm-8pm
Saturday, July 12 10am-12noon
Community Church of Hope, 4121 N 7th
Ave, Phoenix AZ 85013.

QSpeak Youth to Interview PFLAGers and Others
for Valley GLBT History Project at PFLAG's Sept. 15th Support
Meeting
Beck, director of QSpeak Theatre (and former
director of 1N10,
the Valley's primary support group for GLBTQ youth), will be
present, along with several youth from QSpeak and a few other
community members, at our
Paradise Valley
PFLAG support meeting on Monday, September 15th to
interview PFLAGers and other community members who would like to
contribute memories, stories, pictures, etc. to the Valley GLBT
History Project currently underway (see below for further
details about this project).
The schedule for our September 15th support
meeting, which begins at 7:00pm, will include our guest
speaker for the evening, Out the Vote's Annie Loyd. After
Ms. Loyd's presentation, we will break out into smaller support
groups as we typically do. However, this evening, we will
have an additional breakout group for those who would like to
contribute to the GLBT history being assembled by Beck and her
QSpeak youth. Beck will lead this group and they will be
doing historical scrapbook work and oral history about the GLBT
community in Phoenix. This is part of the grant Beck got with
QSpeak to do this historical work. Please bring any
photos, news clippings, etc. for the scrapbook.
